Filmmaking 1o1's THE PLANT is a culmination of work by students and professionals as part of an intensive filmmaking class taught by Chris Caddel and James W. Johnson. Shot entirely on location at the LHUCA's Icehouse in August, THE PLANT stars professional actors Jason Heriford (Austin), Akron Watson (Dallas), Yolanda Bella (Dallas), and Sean Jones (Los Angeles). The students in the class worked with Directors' Caddel and Johnson and Director of Photography, Payton Ware, to create this 46 minute film. |
THE PLANT Synopsis:
A young man appears at an unusual power plant, where he is 'processed' and put to work. His servitude brings about mysterious changes in his co-workers and the plant manager. Through the growth of his own plant, he finds solice and salvation. |
Directors' Bios:
Independent Producer Chris Caddel has worked on feature films, national commercials, and numerous shorts. His films have played film festivals around the world. Chris has been nominated for the Emerging Filmmaker Award at the St. Louis Film Festival, screened at the Moxie!Awards Santa Monica Film Festival, and more recently at the New York Independent Film and Video Festival. His work has also been seen at the Festival du Brest (Fr.), Olympia film Festival, and as part of the short film catalogue at the Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival (Fr.). Working with James W. Johnson, the two have been commissioned to create film and video for many clients, including a feature length documentary, and a world premiere opera. |
James W. Johnson is an internationally known visual artist, editor, animator, graphic designer, and filmmaker. His visual work has been featured on the cover and in the November, 1998 issue of NEW AMERICAN PAINTINGS. His pieces are included in over 200 private and public collections on four continents. He has been commissioned to design, execute and print 11 etchings to accompany Charles Bukowski’s "Not Quite Bernadette". James W. Johnson’s short films have played at the Light PlaysTricks (Kingston, Ontario); Unexplored (Vienna, Austria); Dallas Videofest, SXSW (Austin), Snakebite Film Festival (San Antonio), deadCENTER Film Festival (Oklahoma), One Reel Film Festival (Seattle), and he has won a PLATINUM MEDAL at the 2004 Worldfest in Houston. |
